What is a Birth Doula?

A Birth Doula is a trained, non-medical professional who supports the expecting mother before, during and after childbirth. A Doula provides support and advocacy, mediating between the mother and her maternity care team, if needed.Doulas don’t replace a woman’s partner, during labor and birth. Doulas work with the partner to make the birth experience safe, memorable and empowering for the expectant mother. As your birth Doula I am here to provide emotional, physical and educational support, so you can make the best possible decision for yourself. After birth I will help with initiating skin to skin contact and breastfeeding. I will visit you at home within the first 48 hours after birth to offer my support. I will be there for you every step of the way!
